Overview

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a four-door, five-passenger luxury light truck/sport-utility vehicle, available in two trims, the G550 SUV and the G55 AMG available in 4-wheel drive configurations. It was given a new look for 2009 with a new front grille design and grille guards. For 2010, it is mainly a carryover model.

Powertrain And Performance

The G550 SUV is equipped with a standard 5.5-liter V8 382-horsepower engine that achieves 11-mpg in the city and 15-mpg on the highway. A 7-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The G55 AMG is equipped with a standard 5.5-liter V8 500-horsepower supercharged engine that achieves 11-mpg in the city and 15-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The cargo space available is 79.5 cu. ft.

Build And Styling

Eighteen-inch five twin-spoke wheels on the G550 and new 19-inch five-spoke wheels on the G55 AMG add more to the vehicle's aggressive looks. This ace SUV offers upscale amenities to make the ride comfortable though it is designed for rugged outdoors. The cabin is well-appointed with leather and wood trimmings and heated ventilated premium leather seats. The front seats are 10-way adjustable and deliver a comfortable driving experience. The seats are highly customizable with adjustable dual lumbar supports, side bolsters, and thigh supports. Dual zone climate control; wood and leather shift knob; Burl Walnut trimmings on the console, doors, and dashboard-mounted passenger assist handle; wood and leather steering wheel; harmon/kardon surround sound system; Music Register with 4 gigabytes hard drive; and an integrated 6-disc CDs/DVD changer are among some of the other standard convenience features on the 2010 Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The COMAND infotainment system comes with a 40-gigabyte hard drive; GPS navigation; Bluetooth wireless connectivity; in-dash 6-disc CD/DVD player; harmon/kardon surround-sound system; in-dash memory card reader; high-definition digital radio; and satellite radio with real-time traffic service. The engines have also been upgraded. The G55 AMG features new 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels, a new Alcantara headliner, and a redesigned wood/leather selector lever.
